Five tips for purchasers this holiday season (scroll)
1. Line up your lawyer, banker and building inspector before the holidays.
2. Get pre-approval for your loan now and check how long your lender will need to finalise your approval once you have signed a contract.
3. Make sure clauses don't fall due over the holidays.
4. Factor in any time that you will be away without access to email/a printer/a post office. Tasmania doesn't have electronic conveyancing yet, so there will be paperwork to sign and return if you're getting a mortgage.
5. Be realistic with the settlement date. If you are relying on finance and you haven't already signed a contract, there is almost no chance of a pre-Christmas settlement (sorry!)
